Role playing Evolved.
A Rules-Lite D20 System.
Welcome
fellow role players! We here at Division 6 we have heard your
prayers, as you sit around the table resisting the urge to just play
your mobile device - embarking down those familiar role playing games
scenarios and tribulations, playing the same old thing, over and
over, hoping for a new outcome. That's the definition of insanity
right? Tired of the same dozen or so classes and clunky systems.
We've worked for the last 15 years to bring the new face of Table Top
Role-playing. Please allow us to introduce you to Role-playing
Evolved.
We've
played dozens of TTRPGs and learned from them all; what to do and
what not to do. We want you to be comfortable with our very familiar
D20 system and all its simplicity and, at the same time, redefine
your concept of classes, party combinations, character customization
and role-playing in general.
Ease
of Play
DV6
works with any module or campaign setting from other games. In fact
enemies are based on the party's level and listed on the GM screen
for easy conversion of any monster from any game.
*Every
facet of the game is as simple as roll 1d20 and add a simple 1 to 10
modifier
Unique
Classes & Party Builds
Here
in DV6 we embrace the cool, the awesome and the bad ass. We have
hundreds of classes torn from everything cool: heroes, villains,
ninjas, mages, aliens, super heroes. Chances are if you've seen a
cool hero or villain in a movie or TV show or book, even classes
inspired by other RPG's you've played. DV6 creates the most
interesting and diverse party compositions imaginable, this isn't
'who's the Warrior or who's the mage' talk. This is a Werewolf, Fire
Mage, Power Armor Commando and an Animated Toon.
Balance:
At DV6 we take Class balance seriously, classes are measured with
several balancing equations, and scrutinized against similar classes
of the same type, and then thoroughly play tested.
*Evolutions
break the game and are not taken into consideration for class or game
balance
Evolutions
“Game Breakers”
Nothing
can prepare any of you reading this for the sheer unprecedented
awesomeness of an Evolution in DV6.
You'll
see in DV6 that the characters have an edge unlike any other you've
ever seen or heard of. During Character Creation each character will
roll and choose one of thousands of possible Evolutions, which could
be
anything
from a plus to Resources or Attributes, to any ability or power in
the game.
*This
can change your character completely or solidify them
Character
Customization
Absolutely
unparalleled! Tired of your character only progressing the way the
game tells you to?
In
DV6 no two characters are the same - even if two character's in the
party are the same Class. The choices each will make, the slots each
chooses and the points each spend will grow entirely different
characters.
*At
DV6 have even tested a group of all 6 players as the same class and
the differences were amazingly diverse
Lots
of Rewards
DV6
is different from every other role playing game in the simple fact
that experience points are not awarded for killing baddies or
completing quests, We have reward systems in place to reward every
manner of play.
1000
(EXP) Experience Points is rewarded for showing up and surviving the
session.
5
(MP) Mission Points are rewarded for showing up and having fun each
session.
1
Skill Point and 1 Ghost Skill point are rewarded at the end of each
session.
(UP)
Unlock Points/Tokens are rewarded for completing quests.
Loot
is rewarded for killing enemies.
*Higher
caliber Quests can even reward permanent stat bonuses to your
characters
Experience
Points
A
flat 1000 experience points is rewarded to each character at the end
of each session and is only used to progress in levels. So the
players do not have to worry about how many monsters they killed,
just show up, have fun, play your character and survive the session.
*I also feel that this removes the need for complex experience
systems that reward individual play. This causes bitterness between
players of different role playing calibers and prevents players from
worrying about meta gaming to get the most experience from tasks,
kills or repetition.
Mission
Points
5
Mission Points is rewarded to each character at the end of each
session and is used to raise practically any number on your character
sheet, purchase additional resources, to buy key Advantages or Basic
Power Slots
or
to learn new spells and abilities. You have complete control of how
your characters build from day one
and
can spend anyway you want after each session,
you can even make up deficiencies and weakness.
Skill
Point & Ghost Skill Point
1
Skill Point is rewarded to each character at the end of each session
and must be spent immediately to improve
one
of your Normal Skills by +1.
1
Ghost Skill Point/Move is rewarded to each character at the end of
each session and is used to learn a new Ghost Skill -2 or to move an
existing Ghost Skill from -2 to -1 or can be used to take a Ghost
Skill -1 to a
Normal
Skill at +1.
Alignment
Here
at DV6 we don't care for the alignment systems placed on an
individual character. While people can be inherently good or evil, we
tend to flock together with those of similar ways of thinking and
common goals. Also neutrality is not an alignment, it is the large
gray area between the two extremes. It is strictly circumstantial and
changes from situation to situation. We've found that the party as a
whole needs to be either Heroes or Villains, and so determines
whether the party is good or evil.
Main
Traits
Main
Traits is our interpretation of how each individual character acts
and responds in game. Every character will have the choice of 3 Main
Traits with the GM choosing the 4th Trait for each
character. *The best way to explain Main Traits is to look around
at your friends and family, each person has a way they act that you
are able to classify or identify, dads a dick, Tommy's selfish, Lucy
is a sweet heart and so on. That's easy now delve a little deeper,
dads a dick but hes also a hard ass and way to strict, so its safe to
say that your dads main traits are Dick, Hard ass and Strict, but for
some reason he hilarious and tells the funniest jokes, that one was
from the GM. Main traits are how our character generally responds to
situations, however we are all capable of acting outside of our main
traits if the situation dictates. A mean person is still capable of
being nice, just generally mean.
A
Good Mix:
Role-playing
& Hack n Slash
Lets
face it friends there's only two types of table top role playing:
those that take the role playing part of the game too seriously and
loathe combat, and the larger group of those that kill things all
night and joke about talking to NPC's or interacting with the world.
DV6 is designed to embrace a healthy mix of both sides instead of
just embracing one or the other. *In fact the Game itself and your
character sheet are broken into Out of Combat and In Combat for ease
of play, allowing you to only have to focus on one set of statistics
and numbers, instead of searching both sheets for the proper
information.
Role
Players, Thespians
You
know how to roleplay guys, I don't have to explain that to you. Your
just looking for a good experience and a decent system to play under.
*I think the best part
of DV6 for the hardcore role players will be the surprise of
the
Hack & Slashers actually role playing their characters, even if
just a little more then you've seen in a decade of playing with the
same group. When one of them has a crazy damage evolution and won't
shut up about it or when you surprise everyone by loving combat cause
your evolution is Panzer Tank Form and your change into a fucking
tank, fucking shit up, I guarantee their will be an out of combat
role playing experience after that combat finishes and they're
characters can't stop talking to your character about you becoming a
tank!
Hack
n Slashers
Whats
all this role playing talk! I clear a 100 room dungeon every week
killing hundreds of monsters and getting all the loot. I role play!
*You guys are hilarious.
This is the largest population
of us, even here at DV6, the guys just love killing stuff, fighting
cool monsters, however thats just half of roleplaying. All to often
we get lost in killing monsters for years that we lose scope of why
we are playing a table top role playing game, after all mindless
killing can be easily obtained by playing one of the millions of
video games that now exist. We play this medium of gaming to delve
deeper, to actually play another person in another place, to react as
he/she would to the in game situations and in there lies the problem,
that cant be found in combat, because in combat its always the same
situation, Fight! Only out of combat interacting with each other and
NPCs can any true character reactions occur. Here at DV6 our large
class selection, main traits and evolution will have every group role
playing by accident, each of you will be laughing, discussing your
crazy class, or the party's wild composition, or better yet the
absolutely insane game braking evolutions each character has, don't
be scared theirs plenty of fighting to go around.
*Hack
& Slashers DV6 will give you unparalleled control over your
character, you don't ever have to spend your points indulging the Out
of Combat side of your character, spend your points to always do more
damage or buy cooler combat abilities, build to kill and have fun
playing your character.
